My Approach

Health and Wellness has been a passion of mine since high school and now, later in life, I have made the decision where I wanted to help people live a more healthful and fulfilling life.  I have realized that we are actually living in a world of “sick care” where we are not medically treated until after we become sick, instead of learning how to prevent sickness/illness in the first place. We are then prescribed medications that typically mask or pacify the symptoms instead of curing the actual ailment.  These medications in turn, oftentimes have their own negative side effects which cause additional unrelated ailments of their own.  Ultimately, we become even more sick and this can all be avoided oftentimes, by just learning simple habit changes that will completely enhance your quality of life.

Simple habits such as a healthy diet, along with movement and/or exercise can help prevent up to 90% of the most prevalent forms of chronic disease such as Cardiovascular Disease, Cancer, Diabetes, and Alzheimers. Just making a few simple adjustments to your daily habits and lifestyle could greatly reduce your chances of getting any of these diseases. These habits can also reverse disease for those who may have been diagnosed. I am happy to show you how.

Diet is often thought of as a “bad word” to most individuals wanting to either lose weight, feel healthy, or just drop a few pounds. The word “Diet” does NOT have to be thought of as giving something up and making your life difficult.  Eating healthy can be an incredibly enjoyable and fulfilling part of life once you learn how amazing whole foods:  (correct animal proteins, plant-based proteins, vegetables, fruits, seeds, and legumes) can be. If the foods you eat are not enjoyable, your health journey may not be quite as successful or even sustainable and this can end in frustration. Exercise is the same way… there are enjoyable forms of movement for everyone!  We just need to find out what those activities are for each individual, whether it is going for a walk after dinner, hiking in the beautiful outdoors, yoga, pickleball or training for a marathon; perhaps a competitive sport. There is always something for everyone! I would love to help you open these doors and introduce you to some amazing possibilities.

My Philosophy

We have all been around some form of Health and Wellness throughout our lives.  When you think about it we all begin our lives as children engaged in some form of physical movement: It all begins with learning how to walk, then running and playing with friends which was such a critical part of growing up.  In high school and perhaps college, many of us play (or played) sports or exercised for fun to keep in shape, look good, maintain weight, train for an upcoming event etc etc.  There are so many reasons; the point here is that all of us have been engaged in some form of awareness of movement and diet at many points throughout our lives.

As we continue to age, we learn that it gets much more difficult to keep those pounds off, we lose muscle mass, we lose bone and tendon strength, our sleep gets compromised and our motivation to move can get more and more challenging.  My number one goal is to help as many people learn that it does not have to be this way.

As we age, we may not all be training for a big event or planning on breaking any world records, but what about just wanting to be able to enjoy playing with your kids or your grand kids?  How about being able to travel and enjoy all of the great experiences that life has to offer…. Or most importantly, how about just simply FEELING GOOD?  Many of us may have low energy, are often tired, or feel too weak to go outside and enjoy life the way it was meant to be enjoyed.  We accept this lack of motivation as being part of getting older. This simply is not true.

I have helped many people learn that life is just beginning and that there are so many ways to live your best life!

My Journey

I was very fortunate to have grown up in New York during the 1970’s, before there were any cell phones, IPads, Tik Tok, etc.  As children, we would go outside immediately after breakfast and run around, play whatever sport was in season, and then run around some more until it was time to come home for dinner.  I was obsessed with sports and movement throughout adolescence/adulthood as I played 3 sports in High School and 2 sports in college.  I went to SUNY Cortland and received a B.S.E in Physical Education and Coaching.  I continued my health and wellness journey by being involved with just about every Martial Art (for over 33 years), Mountain Biking, Weight Training and Golfing, among other activities.

As years went on, I started to seek out movement activities that required less impact on my body.  I fell in love with Rowing, Rucking (hiking with 60 pound weighted vest), Mountain Biking/Cycling, Archery and Paddle Boarding.  I also continued with Weight Training as this is a fundamental key to a healthy body and Longevity/Healthspan.  As my body was aging, I began to seek out how to keep healthy, keep my weight in check, and also to be at my best mentally and emotionally.  I learned the importance to be the best person I can be, in order to enjoy the world and the people around me.  At 54, that discovery lead me to do what I deep down inside, always wanted to do and that was to be around Health and Wellness.  I decided that I would get certified as a Health and Wellness Coach.

Health and Wellness lead me to Longevity and Longevity lead me to Holistic Nutrition, since Nutrition is equally important as is movement and exercise.  What better way to give back then to help people lead happier and healthier lives?  There is nothing more important than keeping your body healthy.  You have only one body.  There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a client, a family member, or a friend say that they feel better than ever and that they are doing things that they never thought they could.  Equally as satisfying is having them say that they reversed their heart disease or cured their metabolic disease.
